The guy in the movie, who was played by the Band-Aid guy, I think he represented Syd in some parts, it makes sense.
Could Roger be refering to Syd when he says "trying to break through some buggers wall"
it makes sense, but I don't want to say that's what it is, so I'm asking, is that what it is?
I understood the movie to a point, I think the kid represented Roger Waters...
I saw an editted version on this Channel called Fuse, so I didn't see it in it's entirety, but enough to sort of get it. _________________ IF everyone demanded peace instead of another television set than there'd be peace- John Lennon

What a strange movie but I really liked it! I saw it 2 days ago for the first time and it's kind of weird, especially with the animations. But anyway, I think this movie is great. I saw a documentary about it and they said that there was a part of Syd Barret in the character. But I know there's a bit of Waters too because his father died during the war, I think... _________________ I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house.
I don't know why. I call him Gerald.

The whole film from start to finish is shrouded in metaphor....which is why I like it so much...........
The 'wal'l as such is purely....metaphorical. Eluding to the fact that all the dodgy things that have happened in his life are more "Bricks in the wall" that he has built up around his feelings..........
"All in all you're just another brick in the wall"
And this wall is where we protect ourselves from the world and further hurt by hiding behind this cast iron, cold, emotionless barrier.......
But at some point you have to crack.....and when you crack it gets messy........
Pink was forced through a massive breakdown to face all the ghosts and ugly characters of his past....everything he's done wrong, and everything done wrong to him and stand a trial before all that influenced his life..........and as he picks apart his life piece by piece......brick by brick...........his protective wall is metaphorically torn down by this breakdown..........the true fabric of who he is finally shown starkly and painfully to the world................... |
